Remake of Dragon Quest 3 Censored the Girls
On November 14th, the game Dragon Quest III: HD-2D will be released, which will be a remake of the original Dragon Quest III. Although the game looks beautiful, some people are expressing disappointment with the censorship that the female characters are undergoing in the game.
The game recently released more information about the characters, and some changes drew negative attention.
Remake of Dragon Quest 3 Censored the Girls
In Dragon Quest III, you can choose the classes of your characters, and one class whose female version has always been revealing is the Warrior class. This is the original design from the older versions of the game:
And this is the new look for the remake:
As you can see, she received an outfit to cover her more, thus censoring her. This censorship caused various reactions among fans, many of whom criticized the new design.
“But I like the art style.”
“When they sweat or get wet in the rain, the inner suit sticks to the skin and becomes transparent, doesn’t it end up looking a bit sexy?”
“Nooo…”
“If they were going to do this, it would have been better to have put her in full armor from the start.”
“Square Enix… don’t do something so tacky.”
“Sorry, but wouldn’t it be better to change the color of the inner suit? It doesn’t match this way.”
It wasn’t just the Warrior in Dragon Quest 3 that faced censorship; others also complained about characters from other classes.
“The politically correct adjustments in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D: the Warrior is wearing bikini armor with tacky skin-colored shorts, and the Gadabout is not wearing a leotard. They even made Maya wear shorts, but it doesn’t look cute, does it? Who benefits from this?”
In this case, he’s referring to the Gadabout class where, in the male version, we have a clown and in the female version, a bunny girl:
However, compared to the original, the art makes it seem that the bunny girl in the remake wears some kind of “shorts.”
Another censorship comes from the Priest class, which removed the cross; here’s how it looks now:
And how the original version was:
“Just play the old games, these new things aren’t worth it, it’s too much censorship.”
“Yeah, I knew this was going to happen, but I’m still disappointed.”
“There’s no reason to use the Warrior anymore.”
“At the very least, the color should have been black.”
“Personally, I don’t like the bikini armor, but these shorts are really weird.”
“Everything’s getting worse.”
“It’s still bearable.”
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time the female Warrior has been censored in this way. In other appearances, Square Enix has already tried to cover her more, as you can see in the image above.
