Jump Artist Finds Success with Hentai Manga
What? A Jump Artist Finds Success with Hentai Manga? Do you remember the manga Time Paradox Ghostwriter? It was created by two people: Ichima Kenji wrote the story, and Date Tsunehiro illustrated the art. Recently, Japanese fans discovered that Date is also working in the hentai manga industry.
Time Paradox Ghostwriter was canceled by Jump after only two volumes were released. However, it seems that Date is finding considerable success with his hentai manga.
Jump Artist Finds Success with Hentai Manga
Fans discovered that he is creating the hentai manga series Tomodachi no Mama ga Boku no Dekachin de Ikimakutta under the pseudonym RK-2. With six volumes released so far, he has sold over 500,000 copies.
The series is about a married woman cheating on her husband. With these sales, fans believe that Date has already earned over 240 million yen, much more than he could as a mangaka for a traditional magazine like Jump.
There is speculation that Date abandoned his career as a traditional mangaka due to the cancellation of Time Paradox Ghostwriter and chose the hentai path. However, this is not true.
It is worth noting that Time Paradox Ghostwriter ended in 2020, and in 2021, he published the first volume of his hentai manga Tomodachi no Mama ga Boku no Dekachin de Ikimakutta Kaisui Yokujou.
Despite this, he continued making traditional manga, all for Jump. Although they are one-shots, Date illustrated manga such as Love Attack, Class Maid, and more recently Guerilla Shokudou. All were published in Jump, showing that it takes time for artists to launch new series.
Therefore, despite publishing hentai manga, Date is still in the traditional manga industry and continues trying to launch a new series.
