How Wind Affects Leg Visibility When Lifting Skirts?
In an innovative study, four third-year students from Atsugi High School spent a year analyzing how wind affects leg visibility when lifting skirts. The project was part of the Super Science High School (SSH) program, which promotes advanced scientific research. The unusual theme gained attention both inside and outside the school.
How Wind Affects Leg Visibility When Lifting Skirts?
This news is from July 2024, the study began after a complaint from residents near the school, who noticed that the wind often lifted the students’ skirts as they climbed hills, something commonly seen in manga! Inspired by the comment, the students decided to turn the issue into a detailed scientific experiment.
To ensure accuracy, they created human-like leg models using customized mannequins, modifying their dimensions for realism. They then dressed the mannequins in skirts and used a fan to generate 3 to 4 meters per second wind gusts.
The skirts were tested at different lengths, starting with the standard size and progressively shortened by folding the waistline at different levels. The students recorded changes in visible skin area and how much the skirt lifted under varying wind conditions.
The analysis was conducted from three different angles, recording videos with cameras positioned at 1.60 meters high, simulating an observer’s viewpoint. Each frame was meticulously analyzed at 0.03-second intervals.
This unique scientific study showcases how wind physics interacts with women’s clothing, sparking discussions on fashion, comfort, and the impact of environmental conditions on attire.
Unfortunately, we do not know the conclusion that the four students reached because the article is paid for on the Kanaloco website, and I did not find it anywhere else saying what their conclusion was, only that they did the study.
