Another Japanese store that sells doujins and hentai merchandise has announced the suspension of Visa and Mastercard credit card usage due to the censorship pressure these companies are enforcing on various creations.

In an official statement on its website, Tora no Ana informed its customers that they have suspended purchases with Visa and Mastercard credit cards and requested that customers use other brands, such as JCB, a Japanese credit card.

They also apologize for the inconvenience. The most affected by this suspension are fans living outside Japan, as Visa and Mastercard are practically the only credit card brands abroad.

A few days ago, an adult manga author posted on their profile that their Loli manga was removed from Tora no Ana’s store. Others informed them that the likely culprit was the credit card companies.

It seems that Tora no Ana was trying to comply with Visa and Mastercard’s demands, but it may have become too much, leading the store to suspend these cards. Alternatively, the suspension might be temporary while they work to censor their store.

For some time now, both credit card companies have been waging war against adult content, forcing stores selling adult anime and manga products like DLsite, Fanza, illustration sites like Fantia, and even JAVs (Japanese adult videos) to censor products deemed “problematic.” Even the video site Nico Nico Douga and JAVs stores has suspended the use of these cards.

As an alternative, JCB credit cards are increasingly being used, as they do not limit what stores can sell on their websites. Pro-anime politicians have long been warning that foreign companies are entering the Japanese market and attempting to force censorship on these works.

Recently, the digital game store Denpasoft had to remove several titles at their bank’s order.
