Fans Criticize Kaiju 8 Manga for Repeating Art
What do you think of the Kaiju 8 anime? Despite some criticisms of the adaptation on the internet, the anime has a good rating on MAL so far, 8.23.
So far, I’ve only watched the first episode and commented on it here (for members only). It’s a story about Kaijus invading the earth, and then we have a special group that faces them, you’ll have to watch to find out the rest.
Well, did you know that recently the Japanese criticized chapter 106 of the Kaiju 8 manga? And the reason is not because of the story itself, but because the author decided to do something that the Japanese don’t view favorably.
Fans Criticize Kaiju 8 Manga for Repeating Art
What the author did that didn’t please the Japanese audience was to repeat the same pose of one of the characters in several frames of the same chapter, with one of the repetitions on the same page and consecutively as you can see below:

Let’s see how the Japanese reacted?
“Isn’t this just copied and pasted?”
“Pages 3, 4, 5, 10, 23, 24, 6, 7, and 8 are copied… This goes beyond just being a copy and paste.”
“I thought they were dancing.”
“At this crucial moment of being animated, showing the largest-scale copy-paste performance ever is too much.”
“Even though the amount of information in Episode 1 is already minimal, the art is also copied and pasted. I was surprised that it was just flipped horizontally. I don’t think anyone did this even in the analog manga era.”
“I think the content was decently interesting this week, but unfortunately, this page was interesting in a different way.”
“Battles should be just an accessory.”
“Is this week just because they’ve run out of ideas, or is this the quality every week?”
“It’s tough to see anime-first viewers who are excited without having read the original.”
I took a look at the MangaPLUS comments to see if any Western fan of the manga noticed the same art being used in several frames and found these comments regarding chapter 106:
“I’m here to appreciate the art.”
“Incredible manga.”
“I can’t wait for this to be animated.”
“Great chapter, amazing art as always.”
“That was epic.”
Well, as you can see, I didn’t find any comments pointing that out, Western fans were very excited about the chapter! What is your opinion on this?
