Snowbreak Developers to Continue with Ecchi: “We Know What Our Players Want”
Recently, we published an article about the history of American voice actors who refused to return to Snowbreak: Containment Zone due to the game’s ecchi content. When Snowbreak: Containment Zone was first released, it had little ecchi content and featured voice acting in both Japanese and English. However, the game faced financial difficulties, leading to the suspension of English dubbing.
To attract more players, the developers decided to significantly increase the ecchi content. This resulted in a boost in popularity and financial success, prompting them to attempt reintroducing the English dubbing. However, the voice actors refused to return due to the ecchi content.

In an interview with Automaton, the producer of Snowbreak: Containment Zone revealed that the game saw a 50% increase in sales and daily activities, a significant jump in popularity.
For the producer, the main reason for this success was providing fanservice to the players, giving them what they wanted. Recently, the age rating for Snowbreak: Containment Zone increased to 16 years, and the game continues to receive more ecchi content.
The producer explained that bringing Snowbreak: Containment Zone back to success was a challenging task. They conducted player research, improved the game’s localization, and communicated with fans. Despite the difficulties, the development team was determined not to give up.
Based on player feedback, they improved the main story, character design, game modes, and various other aspects. For those concerned about the fanservice, the producer assured that it will continue, and players can expect more attractive skins for the female characters.
Although the game has received criticism for taking this direction, the producer responded: “We receive criticism about the game and its fanservice from people who are not our players. Rest assured, we know exactly who we should deliver the fanservice to.”
Other improvements in combat and multiplayer are also being explored by the developers. Snowbreak: Containment Zone is available on Steam, Epic Games Store, iOS, and Android.
