When Anime Characters Are Very Similar
When two characters from different anime are almost identical, it’s quite common, as it’s even difficult to make the characters have significant differences due to the simple trait that the style employs.
Take, for example, the character Daiwa Scarlet from the anime Uma Musume. She has very long hair tied up, two large locks on each side, and excuse me, I really don’t understand hair and I don’t even know the name of the hairstyle.
But then take, for example, this girl from the ASMR “Secret Relationship Rina Akasawa,” the story in this ASMR is that you can have a “secret relationship with your childhood friend,” don’t you think the girl from the ASMR below is not similar to Daiwa Scarlet from Uma Musume?
And what if I tell you that the voice actress for Daiwa Scarlet is the one who voiced the ASMR above and that the personalities of the two girls are very similar? So much so that the Japanese created the montage below:

We have 6 characters with long, dark hair in the image above, can you recognize all the anime? I can’t because I haven’t watched any of the above anime, but I believe the first one is Mio from K-ON, the second is Chitanda from Hyouka, I believe the third is Tamako from Tamako Market, already the 3 from the bottom row, the first is Mitsuki Nase from Kyoukai no Kanata, the second is Reina from Hibike Euphonium, and the last one….
And about the girl below, is it the same character in different scenes or are they two characters from different anime?
They are two different characters with very similar looks, the one on the left is Hiyori Hayama from the anime Extreme Hearts, while the one on the right is Kanna Ogata from the anime Engage Kiss, and you know what makes this situation even more curious? Both anime were broadcast in the same season and close to each other!!
And this is not the only coincidence, in the Fall 2023 season, we had the broadcast of the anime Hoshikuzu Telepath and Kimi no Koto ga Daidaidaidaidaisuki na 100-nin no Kanojo, and in these anime, we have very similar characters.

Here we have another case, while the girl on the right is from the mobile game Blue Archive, the character on the left is from Uma Musume, they are very similar!
And the characters below, are they the same character or different?
Different! They are from different mobile games! Now the example below I already had trouble distinguishing, see, I’ve never watched the 5Ds season of Yu-Gi-Oh and I’ve also never watched Code Geass, so there have been times when I’ve had real problems separating the two characters below:
I’ve seen art of Akiza Izinski from Yu-Gi-Oh and I thought I was looking at Kallen Stadtfeld from the anime Code Geass and vice versa, I think for those who have never watched it, it’s really complicated to separate the two, despite the eyes.
And it seems that there are many artists who create fanarts of Akiza wearing Kallen’s clothes, which only adds to my confusion.
