How Does the Flowchart in The Hundred Line Work?

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy Flowchart

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is the latest game from the duo of Kokada and Uchikoshi — the former being the creator of the Danganronpa series and the latter of Zero Escape. The two have joined forces to bring us The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy.

I’m currently playing the game, and one thing I’ve seen mentioned a lot is that it has 100 different endings, and these aren’t just quick or simple ones — they’re meaningful endings.

From the moment I started playing, I wanted to understand how the flowchart in The Hundred Line works, because I was afraid of missing something important in the game. So in this post, I’ll explain how the flowchart works and when you actually start making meaningful choices.

How Does the Flowchart in The Hundred Line Work? What About the Choices for Different Endings?

When you start the game, the story places you in an academy, and your mission is to defend it for 100 days. Don’t worry — in order to unlock the flowchart system, you’ll need to complete those 100 days first.

Throughout these 100 days, the game will sometimes present you with choices, but at this point, they don’t really matter. They’re just an illusion. For example, there’s a moment where a character asks you to convince someone, and you can answer YES or NO — but it’s fake. There’s only one real outcome.

Eventually, when you reach Day 100, an important event takes place. After a few more story developments, a new menu option will unlock called “Chapter Select”.

Once you enter Chapter Select, you’ll see that The Hundred Line’s flowchart is divided by each of the 100 days. For example, in the screenshot below, I was on Day 12 and was given two choices. I ended up choosing both paths, as you can see from the branches in the chart.

Choices you’ve already made are marked with yellow dots, while ones you haven’t explored yet are marked with blue locks. I’m still playing, but just like in Zero Escape, I know that to unlock certain routes, you must first view other endings.

And don’t worry — you can jump to any point in time. You can start at the beginning of a day or right before a decision, so there’s no wasted time. Plus, you can access this menu at any time.

The Hundred Line is available now for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch.
