Crunchyroll Reaches 13 Million Subscribers
Crunchyroll is an official anime streaming service boasting one of the largest catalogs, now acquired by Sony. Sony has expressed its intention to expand its business in the animation world, making it one of its major revenue sources alongside its gaming, music, and film departments.
Sony plans to implement AI to improve production efficiency and enhance the quality of its titles. Additionally, they aim to improve working conditions for creators, addressing the industry’s shortage of animators.
Crunchyroll Reaches 13 Million Subscribers
Kenichiro Yoshida, CEO of Sony Group Corp, stated: “Animation has grown from what used to be a niche genre to a world-class form of entertainment. We want to contribute to the industry.”
To achieve this, Sony aims to train animators outside Japan using its new technologies, such as “Anime Canvas.”
Sony intends to use Aniplex and Crunchyroll to further expand in the anime world. It was also reported that Crunchyroll has 13 million paid subscribers.
