Canadian Model Behind Arcueid Becomes a Fan of the Franchise

After more than two decades of speculation, the identity of the Canadian model used for Arcueid from the Tsukihime series was finally revealed. Thanks to an investigation led by Reddit users, fans now know that the visual inspiration behind Arcueid Brunestud — the iconic heroine of Tsukihime — is Amanda Dyer, a Canadian fashion model who was active in Japan during the early 2000s.
This discovery came from revisiting a 2001 conversation between Tsukihime creators Kinoko Nasu, OKSG, and Takashi Takeuchi. In that chat, Takeuchi mentioned using a foreign model as a visual reference for Arcueid. That “unknown model” turned out to be Amanda Dyer, who posed for Japanese fashion magazine SPUR at just 15 years old.

Amanda responded to the reveal with amusement, stating that it felt “more like puzzle pieces clicking into place than just a random coincidence.” While she isn’t a vampire like Arcueid, Amanda admits to being a longtime fan of vampire fiction and has struggled with insomnia — traits that also define Arcueid’s character.

Her physical appearance shares notable similarities with the in-game design: the long-sleeved white shirt, purple skirt, and black boots. More than aesthetics, her independent and intense personality mirrors that of the Tsukihime protagonist in ways that feel uncannily fitting.

Since learning about her unexpected connection to the Tsukihime universe, the Canadian model has started to engage more deeply with the franchise. Amanda has received countless messages from fans who recognized her from older photos or were simply excited to share how Arcueid’s story had impacted them. In an interview with Anime Trending, she expressed how moved she was by stories from fans who found comfort and motivation through the character.
Far from keeping her distance, Amanda has begun learning about Tsukihime’s lore, reading fan resources, and connecting with the community. With the help of fans sharing guides and links, she’s diving into the world she unknowingly helped shape.

Her next goal? To collect Tsukihime merchandise for herself — and maybe, someday, collaborate directly with Type-Moon in an official project, something that never happened during her modeling career.
To stay in touch with fans, Amanda has launched a Reddit account and a dedicated subreddit titled “arcdyer“, where she occasionally interacts and shares updates. She’s also active on Instagram and through her personal website, staying connected with the people who continue to follow her growing involvement in the Tsukihime fandom.
