Bocchi’s Boobs Go Viral

Bocchi the Rock has become one of the most popular anime of recent times, and the manga is also doing very well—so well that, in addition to the main series, we now have four volumes of the Anthology series.

An “Anthology” manga is when various artists are invited to create a chapter based on the series that will be featured in the volume, and all these chapters are compiled into that volume.

On October 25th, the fourth volume of the Bocchi the Rock Anthology series was released. This time, the cover was illustrated by Minori Chigusa (an artist known for light novel illustrations who has also created hentai).

When this cover was first revealed, many people noted a sexy expression on the characters, which isn’t entirely wrong; Minori’s art style often gives her female characters a certain allure.

But what I wanted to highlight in this post is a specific panel in this manga that ended up being a hot topic on Japanese Twitter. There’s a part where Bocchi, lying on the ground in just a bikini, has her (quite large) breasts highlighted in the scene

As you can see, Bocchi’s boobs fall to the sides, which is exactly what caught people’s attention online. The post reached 15 million views, and some comments praised how the breasts were drawn. Here are a few comments:

• “I’m a woman, and this drawing is amazing. If you imagine breasts as plastic bags filled with water, it becomes easier to understand. When lying on your back, the breasts flatten along the body line (spreading to the sides).”
• “I feel like most gravure idols’ breasts don’t lose shape even when lying on their backs. So I guess around 90% of them are probably fake.”
• “Maybe it’s because I don’t wear bras much, but I really like how my chest almost flattens in the middle when I lie down.”

As you can see, there were even many comments from women praising how Bocchi’s boobs were drawn in this particular scene.
