Okay, it seems there was some drama in the production of the Atelier Ryza anime! “Problematic scenes” were mentioned by animator Mizue Ogawa in a now-deleted tweet, but it has been saved by some Japanese websites.

Mizue Ogawa is the animation director for Atelier Ryza. According to Mizue Ogawa’s now-deleted tweet about the Atelier Ryza anime, it seems the company complained about certain scenes in the anime and called the studio to speak with the person responsible for character design.

Apparently, they are discussing replacing the aforementioned “problematic scenes,” but nothing has been specified about which scenes in the Atelier Ryza anime are considered problematic.

The company in question is likely the owner of Ryza.

Japanese people criticized Ogawa’s tweet with the following comments:

“Did they complain because the characters are thinner in the anime compared to the game?”

“Wouldn’t it be better if the animator from Suisei no Majo didn’t openly talk about these things?”

“Aren’t there many people in the animation industry openly discussing internal matters?”

“As a fan, I don’t really mind because I thought it was unrealistic to turn all the detailed designs into an anime.”

“From what I’ve seen, I don’t think there are any major issues, but the acceptable quality has really been improving lately.”

“Even if you apologize, it’s just a front. Your true feelings of ‘I worked hard, but the company nitpicked (isn’t the company terrible?)’ are leaking out. There are so many animators leaking internal information, really.”

“I didn’t really like the character designs, but if someone starts saying things like this, it will lead to theories that the incompetence lies with the production side, not the budget. This is not something to be discussed on social media.”

“It’s understandable that you’re tired, but describing the company as troublesome is a bit exaggerated. Especially with Ryza, it’s a work that was created while dealing with the excessive obsession of the original character designs (even offering to make corrections after it was almost finalized), so it can’t be helped.”

Well, let’s wait for the upcoming episodes and see if anything ends up being changed. In the meantime, you can check out our compilation of Ryza’s thigh scenes here.
