3 Animes with Announced Sequels But no Updates
The announcement of a continuation for your favorite anime is always exciting, but when there are no updates after the announcement, the concern arises: “Was the announcement just an illusion?”
Currently, there are three animes whose sequels were announced, but no new information has been released, leaving fans worried.
Animes with Announced Sequels, But No Updates
Youjo Senki (Saga of Tanya the Evil)
This anime aired in 2017, and its second season was announced in June 2021. Even after more than seven years since the first season, there are still no updates about the sequel. The story follows a salaryman who reincarnates in a world at war, gaining popularity for its powerful animation.
In 2019, a movie continuing the story was released, and in January 2021, a short anime titled Youjo Senki: Desert Pasta Strategy aired, indicating that the series is still active. On social media, fans theorize that the lack of updates is due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Meanwhile, fans can rewatch the first season, the movie, and see Tanya in Isekai Quartet.
Sono Bisque Doll (My Dress-Up Darling)
Aired in January 2022, this anime had its sequel announced at the end of the same year. The original manga has surpassed 11 million copies in circulation. However, no new information about the continuation has been given so far, and it is uncertain whether it will be a TV anime or a movie.
The first anime adapted up to volume 5 of the manga, which is currently at volume 13. Fans are eagerly awaiting the continuation, with comments on social media like: “I can’t wait for that scene to be animated” and “the second season will be amazing.”
Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru (The Detective Is Already Dead)
This anime, which premiered in July 2021, had its second season announced in July 2022. One year after the announcement, the editor of the original light novel posted in July 2023 that “the second season is in production” at the MF Bunko J Summer School Festival.
Although the lack of news is concerning, it doesn’t mean the production has been canceled. While waiting for more updates, fans can rewatch the first season or participate in events related to the anime.
