Fans Demand a Remake of The Beginning After The End Anime
Since its debut on April 2, 2025, the anime adaptation of The Beginning After The End has sparked intense backlash from fans. The disappointment was so overwhelming that a petition on Change.org was launched demanding the immediate cancellation and a complete remake of the anime by a different studio.
With over 740 signatures gathered so far, the fan movement is rapidly gaining traction, reminiscent of what happened with Chainsaw Man, which also faced a similar petition.

The main complaint among fans revolves around the static and low-quality animation, with many comparing it to a “PowerPoint presentation.” Scenes that were meant to be action-packed and full of magic ended up as still frames with minor camera movements, stripping the show of any excitement.
But the issues go beyond animation. Many are also criticizing the storytelling approach — with too much narration and very little visual scene building. This breaks immersion and reduces the emotional impact of key moments, which is especially damaging in a fantasy series like TBATE, where the connection to the magical world is vital.
Based on the web novel by TurtleMe (Brandon Lee), The Beginning After The End had already reached over 62 million views on Tapas and generated around $500,000 monthly worldwide. With such a passionate fanbase, expectations for the anime adaptation were sky-high — which only made the frustration with studio A-CAT’s version even greater.
The petition calls the adaptation a “stain” on the series’ reputation and demands the immediate halt of the project before more episodes damage its image further. Fans suggest that a new studio take over the project or that a crowdfunding campaign be launched to fund a proper remake.
Criticism Toward the Studio and Creative Team
Directed by Kitar Moanaga, with script by Takameitsu Chuna and character design by Masami Suyoka, the anime airs on Fuji TV and is distributed globally by Crunchyroll. However, fans believe that studio A-CAT lacked the structure and artistic vision necessary to adapt such a rich and beloved story.
Some fans argue that the production was rushed and done on a limited budget, which hurt not only the animation quality but also the storytelling. The petition, addressed directly to TurtleMe, expresses hope that the author might take action. While his influence over the production committee is limited, fans believe his voice could be key to pushing for change.
