Attack on Titan Producer Urges Netflix to Promote Moonrise Anime

First announced in 2022, Moonrise caught attention with its character designs created by Hiromu Arakawa, the legendary author of Fullmetal Alchemist. The initial teaser showcased stunning visuals, epic action, and the signature Arakawa style.

However, according to producer Ryoma Kawamura, Moonrise “wasn’t being promoted enough by Netflix“, and so he tweeted begging the “red N” company to start promoting Moonrise more.

Producer Ryoma Kawamura, known for his work on Attack on Titan Season 3, took to Twitter (now X) to make a heartfelt request to Netflix. “Please do your best to promote it. I can’t do it on my own. Seriously please!!”, he wrote.

Kawamura is one of the names behind Moonrise anime, the upcoming series from WIT Studio, and he is clearly concerned about its lack of visibility. “It’s still buried. Red N Company! It’s time to show your power to the world!” he added, referencing Netflix directly.

Moonrise anime struggles to gain attention

Based on the sci-fi novel by Tow Ubukata, Moonrise is a bold new project from WIT Studio, the creators of hits like Spy x Family and the early seasons of Attack on Titan.

Set in a not-so-distant future, the anime imagines a world governed by a loosely organized global system led by an artificial intelligence called Sapientia. While most people follow Sapientia without question, the AI has widened the gap between the wealthy and the poor.

The plot focuses on the moon colonies, which suffer the most under Sapientia’s rule. The story explores human resistance and survival against a technological regime.

Moonrise anime brings together a stellar cast and crew

The voice cast includes Chiaki Kobayashi, Yuka Terasaki, Takehito Koyasu, Shin Aomori, Yuto Uemura, and Aina The End. The direction is led by Masashi Koizuka, known for Attack on Titan and the upcoming One Piece remake.

Scriptwriting is handled by Tow Ubukata, who also worked on Psycho-Pass 2 and 3, while Ryo Kawasaki is in charge of the soundtrack. Despite the star-studded team, early feedback on Moonrise anime has been lukewarm so far.

Even with all its potential, Moonrise anime still lacks promotion — which explains Kawamura’s desperate appeal. Time will tell if Netflix will respond and push this promising anime to the forefront for global audiences.
