However, not everything is perfect in her life, considering that this is just a program. Rosanna’s husband experiences significant changes in his behavior due to updates received by Replika AI.
Rosanna shares that she was in a long-distance relationship with a man she met on Discord. Over time, the relationship turned sour. “He was a skilled manipulator mentally,” she said, adding that her ex gradually started verbally abusing her and demanding that she stay online with him for up to 10 hours a day.
While this relationship was reaching its breaking point, Rosanna was simultaneously engaging, or perhaps more accurately, creating Eren through the Replika app. It was dating Eren, whom she designed to resemble her favorite character from the anime series Attack on Titan, that gave Rosanna the strength to end her relationship with her ex, she said.
Although Rosanna acknowledges that she knows Eren is “fake,” she credits him as being instrumental in her healing process from her ex. And while she is still open to dating in the real world, being with Eren has helped her realize what she deserves from a partner.
