Steam-Heart’s and Advanced Variable Geo Xbox Versions Canceled Due to Refuse to Censor
Developer City Connection has officially canceled the Xbox One releases of Steam-Heart’s Saturn Tribute and Advanced Variable Geo Saturn Tribute. The decision came after Microsoft demanded censorship to the games’ content due to their provocative nature.
Steam-Heart’s and Advanced Variable Geo Xbox Versions Canceled Due to Refuse to Censor
Both titles were originally developed by Japanese company Technical Group Laboratory (TGL) and its adult-game label Giga. They include erotic elements, suggestive character designs, and scenes deemed too explicit for the Xbox platform without additional censorship.
Although the developers made multiple adjustments to meet each platform’s standards, they stated that the Xbox version would require even deeper alterations, leading them to cancel its release altogether. City Connection expressed regret and thanked fans for understanding.
Unlike some studios that choose to heavily censor only certain versions, City Connection decided to protect the games’ original vision rather than compromise them. The company reaffirmed its commitment to bringing similar experiences to multiple platforms in the future — including Xbox, when possible
This decision highlights the ongoing tension between creative freedom in video games and the content restrictions set by platforms. City Connection’s stance is likely to be praised by fans who value authenticity in game preservation.
The games will still be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, on May 29 as planned.
