As this is a website about anime, it’s obvious that we look at things from an anime perspective. That said, have you ever watched an anime set in an all-girls’ school? Especially in an old girls’ school with architecture resembling a church?

Typically, it’s easier to encounter this kind of setting in yuri anime, such as “Maria-sama ga Miteru” or “Strawberry Panic.” In the case of the latter anime, the story unfolds in three girls’ schools located close to each other.

A tweet with 1.6 million views showcased photos of this girls’ school. The tweet explains that when the person learned the school was open for visits, they went to see it and were amazed by its beauty.

Shall we take a look at the photos?

Here, we see the outside of the school with a vast green area. In the lower photo, it appears to be the entrance, with lockers on one side and a bench on the other.

Could this be the dining area? I honestly don’t know, but it certainly seems that way. What’s amusing is that it appears to be a corridor as well.

In any case, this is a very beautiful school! Its name is Jiyu Gakuen, and it was designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, with construction completed in 1921 in Tokyo.

Currently, this building no longer functions as a school, as it underwent restoration between 1997 and 2001 due to its aging condition. Today, it’s possible to visit and explore the school, and it can also be booked for events, including weddings.

Let’s take a look at some reactions from the Japanese regarding Jiyu Gakuen:

“Incredible! The interior atmosphere is warmer and more pleasant than it appears from the outside!”

“It looks so magical! I would love to visit.”

“This is amazing! Could they not renovate it and turn it into a hotel or something? It’s a shame to let it go to waste.”

“The retro atmosphere is charming.”

“Could they use this in some drama?”

“It seems like no one would notice if a statue of Maria were placed there without permission.”
