Nukitashi Anime Adaptation Is Kadokawa’s Biggest Challenge Yet
Nukitashi, developed by Qruppo and first released for PC in 2018, is an eroge/visual novel with a full title that translates to, “What’s a Flat-Chested Girl Like Me to Do on an Island Straight Out of a Porn Game?” The story follows Junnosuke Tachibana, who returns to Seiren, a sex-obsessed tropical island, to fight against a controversial law.
Blending deep cultural commentary with absurd and comedic situations, the game has received glowing reviews on Steam. Its sequel, Nukitashi 2, launched in 2019, while the first game was officially localized in English in 2023.
Challenges in the Adaptation
Announced in January, the adaptation has proven difficult for the companies involved, including Kadokawa, AT-X, Yostar, and original developer Qruppo.
Kadokawa described the anime as “their biggest challenge yet,” emphasizing the uncertainty of the final product: “Right now, we really don’t know how it is going to turn out, so we hope you’ll stay with us until the end.” AT-X called the project “unprecedented.”
I’m currently reading Nukitashi’s manga adaptation and I have to say that the manga has a lot of adult scenes, so I wonder how this will end up in an anime adaptation. We’ll probably have another anime here that’s just a little bit short of being a total hentai.
Meanwhile, Qruppo’s comments were filled with puns and humor, in line with the game’s innuendo-rich dialogue. Yostar jokingly assured fans, “Rest assured that our families are not being held hostage.”

The official X account released a suitable-for-work teaser trailer showcasing the main characters, Junnosuke Tachibana and Nanase Katagiri, and confirming that the original voice actors will reprise their roles in the anime. Additionally, fans can expect a NSFW trailer to be revealed soon.
