The visual novel was initially planned for release on May 23, but just days before that, Sekai Project announced a postponement to May 29, citing pending third-party approvals—referring specifically to Valve’s review process. Unfortunately, even after the rescheduled date, the game remains unavailable on Steam. Its current status is listed as “TBD,” with no communication from Valve.

Sekai Project revealed that the game build was submitted on May 5. On May 14, Valve requested a save file, which the publishers provided immediately. The delay impacted not only Steam users but also affected the entire multi-platform release strategy for Nekopara After: La Vraie Famille. Since the original plan was to launch the game simultaneously across different stores, Sekai Project had to adjust. As a result, the game was released on DLsite, Fanza, and Denpasoft on June 13.
To keep fans informed and manage growing frustration, Sekai Project started publicly tracking the number of days they’ve been waiting for Valve’s response. As of, the delay had reached 43 days.
Nekopara After continues the long-running Nekopara series, a well-known eroge visual novel franchise featuring cat-girl characters. While all previous titles (Volumes 0–4 and Extra) were eventually released on Steam with adult content removed or toned down, fans could access uncensored content through optional 18+ DLC patches.
Many speculate that Valve’s current silence is related to content concerns surrounding the game’s adult themes. However, with no official feedback from Valve, Sekai Project remains in limbo, unable to make content adjustments or schedule a new Steam release date.
