Kadokawa May Be Victim of New Cyber Attack
In June, Kadokawa’s servers fell victim to a hacker attack, leading to the shutdown of various services, including the group’s online stores and popular sites like Nico Nico Douga. As of now, Kadokawa’s servers and data are still under repair. Given the evident security issues, it is crucial for the company to invest in cybersecurity, as it seems the hackers responsible for the attack are merely waiting for the systems to recover to strike again.
Kadokawa May Be Victim of New Cyber Attack
A screenshot is circulating on Japanese forums, showing a new message from the BlackSuit group to Kadokawa, suggesting another potential attack. The message reads:
“Takeshi Natsuno,
We are waiting for your corporate network to be fully restored. Be prepared…”
Takeshi Natsuno is the CEO of Kadokawa.
This message indicates that Kadokawa might be targeted again. Below are some of the reactions from Japanese internet users:
- “Why do these people hate Kadokawa so much?”
- “It’s funny how they directly name Natsuno. The hackers know their stuff.”
- “Wouldn’t it be interesting if NTT, NEC, Fujitsu, and other Japanese IT companies organized a security skills competition to protect Kadokawa from BlackSuit?”
- “This… is going to go on forever, isn’t it?”
- “I hope they keep up the good work.”
- “How about destroying Russia?”
- “This is definitely something a Japanese person would say.”
With growing tension, it remains to be seen what the coming months will bring and whether Kadokawa can prevent further disruptions to its services.
