Did you know that it’s common for there to be street campaigns in Akihabara when anime is airing or before they premiere? During these campaigns, cosplayers often distribute promotional items related to the anime.

For instance, have you heard of the anime “Interspecies Reviewers”? In 2020, the anime hired a cosplayer to dress up as Crimvael and distribute rulers to passersby on the streets.

We can’t be sure what the dialogues were like, but we can imagine something like this:

“Why this ruler?”

And she politely responds,

“It’s for measuring your buddy, sir.”

The stand set up to promote the anime “Interspecies Reviewers”:

As part of the promotional campaign for the anime “Interspecies Reviewers,” in addition to a car driving around Akiba promoting the show, they had a lovely girl cosplaying as Crim distributing rulers. But why a ruler? Well, in one of the episodes, the characters have their “companions” measured by a lady using a ruler.

Below, you can see photos of the ruler that was being distributed:

If you take a closer look, there are “marks” on the ruler; these marks represent “checkpoints,” each indicating the average size of a different species. After all, this anime is all about different species.

If you fall between 5 and 8 cm, you’re in the Hobbit average range; between 10 and 12 cm, you’re in the Elf average range, and 13 cm is the standard for humans.

And at the end of the ruler, there’s Crim with a puzzled expression and red text that says “immeasurable.” This is likely a reference to Crim, who was described as being… “well-endowed.”

It’s fascinating to see how certain anime go about promoting themselves, and this campaign is certainly quite humorous.
