Former idol from the group Maria has decided to debut in AV
Another case! Another ex-idol who decided to completely change her life and debut in the AV industry—this time, we’re talking about Aona, a former idol from the group Maria, who is now debuting in AV under the name Honjo Hana.
For those who aren’t familiar with the group (after all, there have been so many idol groups in Japan), Maria was a five-member idol group. They stood out from others through their unique fashion: black clothing, sunglasses, and the iconic children’s school backpack.
The members of idol group Maria were: Minori, Aona, Rinarina, Mei, Lala, and later Seika, who joined afterward, bringing the total to six members for a time.
The group started in 2013 and self-identified as “Chame-Rock,” a playful/mischievous type of rock. In 2015, they released a music video for the song “Hurricane,” which is a cover—the original being by Chanels/Rats & Star.
However, all things come to an end, and in 2017, in a post that made me feel a bit sad, the staff thanked fans for their support and, with a photo showing only three of the members, officially announced the end of Maria.

And that brings us to today—news broke on Japanese social media that one of the girls from the group decided to return, now debuting in the adult video industry! Below you can see photos of the ex-idol dressed very similarly to her old idol group days—with black clothes, the backpack, and even the sunglasses!
The photos above were shared by Moodyz (an adult film production company), teasing fans by saying a “former idol” would be debuting in AV, and posted the image above. It didn’t take long before people began recalling the group Maria, and soon fans were wondering which of the members had decided to make the leap into AV.
It took a bit of time, but she was identified—it’s Aona! Now in 2025, she’s debuting in an AV film wearing the iconic outfit from her idol days, including the glasses, black clothes, and children’s school backpack.
Below is a photo of Aona during the Maria era:
Here’s another photo of her from that time:
In a post on her Twitter (now under the name Hana Honjo), the former Maria idol Aona said that she’s “worried about what people who remember her idol days will think,” but even so, she’s going to give it her best and asks for fans’ support.
And the most curious part? I found reports on Japanese websites stating that during her idol days, Aona strictly followed the “no dating” rule—and now look where she ended up.
