Evil Dragon-chan Manga Returns with Reboot After Cancellation

Evil Dragon-chan Manga Returns with Reboot After Cancellation

Back in 2019, manga artist Yaki Tomato began posting chapters of 300-nen Fuuin Sareshi Jaryuu-chan (also known as Evil Dragon-chan) independently on Twitter. The slice-of-life fantasy about a lonely boy and a sealed dragon quickly gained a following.

In June 2021, the series was officially picked up by Magazine Pocket for serialization. However, despite the warm reception, it was abruptly cancelled in July 2022 after only 35 chapters. No official explanation was given at the time.

The Evil Dragon-chan manga follows a boy who lives alone and craves connection. In his loneliness, he attempts a summoning ritual hoping to call forth a familiar. What he gets instead is Mumu, a dragon girl who had been sealed away in darkness for 300 years — and who also happens to be lonely herself.

The two form an unexpected bond as they navigate their lives together, creating heartwarming and sometimes hilarious moments in the process.

Now, in an exciting twist, Yaki Tomato has announced the return of Evil Dragon-chan in the form of a reboot — this time published under Comic HOWL. The new version adds an extra zero to Mumu’s age, with the ancient dragon now having been sealed away for 3,000 years instead of 300.
