Baan Anime Announced by Gigguk, Will Premiere in Tokyo and YouTube
The Baan anime was officially announced at Anime Expo, marking a huge milestone for content creator and YouTuber Gigguk. Titled Bâan – The Boundaries of Adulthood, the anime will premiere in Tokyo theaters on August 24 and will later be released globally on Gigguk’s YouTube channel with both Japanese and English voiceovers.
At the heart of the Baan anime are two main characters: Arai Daichi, a 21-year-old man dealing with family issues in modern-day Japan, and Rinrada Ratchamanee, a 19-year-old girl from the fantasy realm of Euthania. The two worlds are linked by a mysterious warp gate, allowing for a unique narrative of connection across dimensions.
Daichi escapes to Euthania to avoid his personal struggles, while Rin travels from her peaceful village to explore the reality of Japan. The anime blends themes of emotional growth, belonging, and cultural discovery.
Euthania’s worldbuilding draws inspiration from Thai and Southeast Asian mythology, with fantastical creatures and a serene but dangerous landscape.
The Baan anime is directed by Yoshimitsu Ōhashi, known for his work on Galaxy Angel, Witchblade, and Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture. Music is composed by Kevin Penkin, the celebrated artist behind the soundtracks of Made in Abyss and The Rising of the Shield Hero.
Voice actors Shōya Ishige and Haruna Mikawa bring Daichi and Rin to life, respectively.
After its theatrical run, Baan will be uploaded for free on Gigguk’s YouTube channel, alongside a behind-the-scenes video that showcases the creation process of this unique project.
With the Baan anime, Gigguk transitions from anime commentator to full-fledged creator, backed by GeeXProductions — a new division by GeeXPlus, Dwango, and Kadokawa. This collaboration marks a turning point in how influencers are shaping the future of anime production.
