Author of Ore Twintail ni Narimasu Reincarnated as a Little Girl in Henjin no Salad Bowl
On April 5, the anime Henjin no Salad Bowl premiered, an adaptation of the light novel of the same name by Yomi Hirasaka—the author of Haganai and ImoSae. But why are we talking about this anime? Because episode 10 featured an unexpected special appearance!
Author of Ore Twintail ni Narimasu Reincarnated as a Little Girl in Henjin no Salad Bowl
Right at the beginning of the episode, there’s a conversation between Princess Sara de Odin and a little girl named Yume Mizusawa. They discuss one of the many Japanese pronouns, and the princess suggests that all girls should use “Warawa” because every girl is a princess.
But here’s the twist: this little girl is actually the reincarnated version of light novel author Yume Mizusawa! Surprising, right? For those unfamiliar, Yume Mizusawa is the author of Ore, Twintail ni Narimasu, his most famous work, which had 21 volumes and a 2014 anime adaptation.
Ore, Twintail ni Narimasu follows the story of Souji Mitsuka, a boy obsessed with girls who wear twintails (a hairstyle with two pigtails, often called “twin tails” in English). He loves this style so much that he ends up being chosen to fight against evil—but upon transforming, he becomes a twintail girl!
As a friend of Yume Mizusawa, Henjin no Salad Bowl’s author decided to include him in the story, but with a fun twist: he died and reincarnated as a twintail girl!
Even Yume Mizusawa himself was surprised by this tribute and commented at the time:
“When Volume 3 was released, I jokingly said, ‘Will Mizusawa Yume-chan also appear if this becomes an anime?’—but I never imagined Mizusawa Yume-chan would actually be on TV… Hirasaka-sensei, everyone involved, and Uesaka-san, thank you so much! I was touched because it looked just like the real Mizusawa Yume.”
Additionally, a fan noticed that Yume-chan in the anime wears an accessory that the real Yume Mizusawa often uses!
