The Servants in Fate Samurai Remnant
Fate Samurai Remnant is Type-Moon‘s next game, developed by Koei Tecmo Games subsidiary Omega Force. And who has the general supervision of Kinoku Nasu.
Due out in September, today we’re going to show you some of the story and characters of this new action RPG game from Type-Moon, starting with the story.
Fate Samurai Remnant’s Story
The fourth year of the Keian Era, Edo Period. Forty-eight years have passed since Ieyasu, the ruler of Japan, opened the capital to the Tokugawa shogunate. Tokugawa’s reign was passed to the fourth Shogun, Ietsuna.
The number of people living in Edo increased every day, and the city seemed to be enjoying its prosperity. However, due to a succession of dissolutions and revocations by the feudal lords, the streets filled with ronin and the peaceful days of Edo seemed to be fading away.
In Fate Samurai Remnant we have the protagonist named Miyamoto Iori who lives in Asakusa, a city in Edo. He was the adopted son and apprentice of the great swordsman Miyamoto Musashi.
Iori chose not to serve a lord, but spent his days training in swordsmanship. One day he noticed an unfamiliar bruise on the back of his hand. Iori would soon find himself caught in the middle of a terrible conflict, a battle of blood and deceit.
The battle over the ”Crescent Moon” that could grant any and all wishes, the ”Crescent Moon Ritual”. The seven desire-seeking individuals, or Masters, are the bearers of the Rite.
The seven Heroic Spirits, or Servants, are summoned to this world by their Masters. The curtain rises on the battle between the seven Masters and their seven servants in Fate Samurai Remnant.
Fate Samurai Remnant Servants and Masters
Now we will introduce some of the main characters in the story who are involved in the Ritual of the Crescent Moon”.
Saber
A Saber-class Servant who is dressed in an old-fashioned style and wields a wavy sword. Saber suddenly appeared in front of Iori and saved him from a crisis.
Claiming that Iori is weak, this proud Heroic Spirit intends to fight the Ritual of the Crescent Moon alone. Saber seems to be interested in the peaceful streets of Edo.
Miyamoto Musashi – Berserker
A Servant of the Berserker class. She is an unparalleled swordswoman and the founder of the Niten Ichiryu style of swordsmanship. Although she shares the same identity as Miyamoto Iori’s teacher, her appearance appears to be slightly, or perhaps quite, different from the person Iori has known.
Takao Dayu – Berserker Master
Another Berserker-class Servant in Fate Samurai Remnant. A courtesan in Miura-ya, a brothel in Yoshiwara. She is considered one of the most beautiful women in Edo and attracts many men, including feudal lords. ”Dayu” is the highest rank of courtesan, and she is one of the three most popular Dayu.
Dorothea Coyett – Assassin Master
A young woman from another country who came to Japan aboard a galleon. She is the daughter of a Swedish nobleman, Fredrik Coyett, and is a mage who belongs to the Clock Tower, the prestigious academic institution of magecraft.
Rider
Clad in black armor, this fearsome warrior wields an elongated sword without hesitation, mercilessly slaughtering any foe.
Yui Shoutsu – Rider Master
An ardent fighter and military scholar admired by many ronin. Shousetsu runs a military academy in Edo and decides to serve the shogunate before the Ritual of the Crescent Moon, though not without some reservations.
Lancer
She wields two spears and black flames, causing black flowers to bloom on the battlefield. There seems to be a reason for his constant somber appearance…
Chiemon – Lancer Master
A mysterious man with many layers of cloth wrapped around his face. He is a survivor of the great rebellion that took place in Shimabara, Amakusa, which shook the peaceful era. He appears in Edo alone, with nothing in his possession.
Zheng Chenggong – Archer Master
A bold and vivacious warrior with a heroic appearance. He is a general, also known as ”Koxinga”, highly respected by Emperor Longwu of the Southern Ming Dynasty. He is the son of a Ming merchant and a Japanese mother.
Fate Samurai Remnant Gameplay
The game is separated into two game systems: Battle and Exploration. The battle lets you take control of Miyamoto Iori. He primarily fights using his twin swords, switching between five different stances, each with their own characteristics.
If he is unable to use his sword to certain enemies, he can use Magecraft to counter them. When playing as Iori, your minion will be controlled independently.
Certain enemies cannot be damaged by Iori’s swords, however, if the enemy’s Shell Gauge is depleted by Saber’s affinity technique, Iori’s attacks will be able to reach them.
Exploration in Fate Samurai Remnant takes you and your servant wandering through various districts of Edo City. Where you can fight with other Masters and learn more techniques.
Or interact with townspeople, replenish energy at food stalls, and play with dogs and cats, which can increase your affinity with your servant.
