VTubers Banned from Visiting Japanese Sex Doll Museum After Nijisanji Controversy

On June 18, 2025, a heated dispute erupted between the popular VTuber agency Nijisanji and Japan’s only dedicated sex doll museum, the Yashio Hihokan. The situation escalated when the museum publicly declared that VTubers are banned from visiting the Japanese sex doll museum, calling Nijisanji “a bunch of scumbags” and “a lawless organization.”

The Yashio Hihokan is a private museum located inside the home of Japanese photographer Yoshitaka Hyodo. The venue houses his personal collection of life-sized adult dolls. Due to the nature of the location, visitors are strictly required to schedule their appointments via email before arriving.

According to Hyodo, the conflict began when a Nijisanji-affiliated VTuber showed up at the museum without making a reservation. After being denied entry, the VTuber allegedly booked another visit but failed to disclose that the real purpose was to record monetized content for their channel. Despite securing an appointment, the recording took place without Hyodo’s approval.

The resulting video, reportedly contained secretly recorded audio and commentary from a third party who never consented to being filmed. Hyodo stated that to avoid these issues, interviews are only allowed on specially arranged days—a policy that the VTuber completely ignored.

Initially, Hyodo considered letting the matter go, given the VTuber’s young age. However, after receiving what he described as “disgusting” emails from a Nijisanji manager, he decided to take action. In his words: “If you wanted to conduct an interview, there’s a proper process. You ignored all of it and had the nerve to act rudely toward someone who was being tolerant. I will never deal with you again.”

As a result, VTubers are now banned from visiting the Japanese sex doll museum, with Nijisanji members prohibited from scheduling interviews, filming, or creating any content at the location.
