A 23-year-old woman was arrested after chopping off her boyfriend’s ring finger with an axe, supposedly to prevent him from marrying another woman.

The accused, Saki Sato, a 23-year-old unemployed woman from the Kita district, was arrested by the Sonezaki police on suspicion of aggravated assault. According to the investigation, between September of last year and January of this year, she mutilated her partner—a man in his 20s—while they were living together.

In addition to cutting off her boyfriend’s finger, the woman was also accused of repeatedly assaulting his face and even mutilating one of his nipples with scissors. The severed finger was found inside a jar of liquid, stored in the refrigerator of their home.

The young man reported to the authorities that the assault was motivated by jealousy and fear of infidelity. According to him, his partner suspected he was cheating, and he said, “She cut my finger because she didn’t want me to be able to marry another woman.”

The police confirmed that this was the third time the woman had been arrested for the same type of crime against her boyfriend, and she has been formally charged on all occasions. Despite the evidence, Saki denies the accusations.
