A serious incident has shocked the Nijisanji Vtuber community after it was revealed that a music producer working with them secretly photographing Vtubers and shared them in group chats.
Companies like Hololive and Nijisanji take strict precautions to protect the identities of their Vtubers, ensuring their privacy is maintained. Recently, YAB, a music producer who has worked with idol groups such as Nogizaka46 and Nijisanji, was accused of secretly photographing Nijisanji Vtubers and sharing the images in group chats. The scandal was exposed online, causing widespread concern.
Popular YouTuber Korekore shared some of these censored photos during a live stream, preserving the privacy of the Vtubers but confirming the authenticity of the allegations against YAB.
Although the photos are not sexual in nature, as they only show the Vtubers’ faces, the incident has raised significant concerns. The report came from a former employee of YAB’s company, leading Anycolor, the parent company of Nijisanji, to evaluate possible actions.
Industry Impact and Speculation
The case has been seen as a wake-up call for the entire industry, given that YAB works with multiple music groups, not just Nijisanji. Since then, several of the songs YAB was involved with have been taken down from platforms.
Additionally, there have been rumors that YAB might have been drugging Vtubers in his studio. These rumors intensified after an old tweet from Vtuber Ienaga Mugi surfaced, in which she reported feeling ill after visiting YAB’s studio in 2020. The tweet was deleted, but speculation continues, although no concrete evidence links the two events.
Gundou’s Statement
Former Nijisanji Vtuber Dokugai (formerly Gundou) also commented on her experience at YAB’s studio. She revealed that YAB often played raw recordings of other members for her, mocking their untreated voices and laughing at their vocal quality. Gundou expressed disgust at this behavior and wondered if her own recordings had been ridiculed similarly. She stated that she was unaware of the photo incident.
Currently, many of the videos YAB produced for Vtubers are being made private across various platforms, as shown on the studio’s official website.
