Did VTubers Quit a Event Because of Mikeneko?

Something surprising happened: an event called Doutomen/Showcase Vol.01 is set to take place featuring several VTubers, but suddenly, one after another, they began canceling their appearances after the announcement that Mikeneko (formerly Rushia) would also be participating.

The anticipated event Doutomen/Showcase Vol.01, scheduled for May 5, 2025, in Akihabara, has become the center of controversy after several VTubers suddenly withdrew from the lineup. The situation quickly escalated on social media, especially after the announcement that VTuber Mikeneko would join as a special guest.

Among those who backed out are Kamiyaneko, Ridel, Kyonsie CI, and Amase Mia—all of whom canceled their participation shortly after Mikeneko’s involvement was made public. According to the organizers, Mikeneko’s invitation was confirmed late, which is why her name was announced just two weeks before the event. As a special guest, she was scheduled to appear last.

With these cancellations coming after her announcement, many social media users speculated that the other VTubers refused to appear alongside her. However, the event organizers deny any connection between the events, stating that the withdrawals were due solely to internal issues.

Mikeneko, formerly known as Uruha Rushia, has been involved in multiple controversies in the past, including contract disputes and a scandal involving singer Mafumafu. Nevertheless, the statement emphasized that her participation had nothing to do with the cancellations.

The event’s organizers, led by K.MOTOHARU from the group “3rdmen,” released an official statement on April 21 to address the rumors. According to the announcement, the cancellations were due to organizational failures and breakdowns in negotiations with the performers.

The production team also warned that legal action would be taken against anyone spreading false or defamatory claims about the event or the artists. “We will not tolerate rumors that harm our event or our guests,” the statement said.

Despite the controversy, the Doutomen Showcase remains scheduled, now with a smaller lineup but still featuring Mikeneko as the main attraction.
