Artist of Oshi no Ko warns that the series is not for children
Oshi no Ko has been a huge BOOOM, and with the success of the anime, many people have turned to the manga. The series has gained fans of all ages, including children. However, the manga’s illustrator, Mengo Yokoyari, has issued a warning that the manga is not intended for children.
And indeed, we must agree with the artist, as the series contains many elements that children, who haven’t fully developed their minds, may not be able to comprehend properly.
Artist of Oshi no Ko warns that the series is not for children
Oshi no Ko is published in a magazine targeted at young adults, and in her profile, Yokoyari expressed surprise upon learning that children are reading the manga. She stated:
“The publication is being made in a magazine for young adults and contains explicit descriptions that may require parental guidance. It would be better if parents could read it while checking and taking care.”
Mengo also cautioned young readers about her other works. For example, many people who are interested in the authors of Oshi no Ko also become curious about her previous manga works.
In the case of Aka, it’s Kaguya-sama, her most famous work, which can be enjoyed by readers of all ages. However, in the case of Mengo, she has many heavy works, so she also warned fans about this:
“Despite the artwork being the same, the content is very adult-oriented, so it would be safer to wait until you’re of an age where you can purchase the books on your own.”
Oshi no Ko delves into the dark side of the entertainment industry, which involves lies, deception, and other elements considered heavy in its storyline. With that said, it is necessary to exercise caution as the series may have an impact on sensitive individuals and children.
