Japan: Mother took pictures of Women in Public Bath for her Son
A Japanese mother was arrested in January of this year, her crime? Going to public baths and taking pictures of the women who visited there. Satomi Seki is 63 years old and was arrested, but she was not the only one to go with the police, her son, Akinori, 37 years old, was also taken.
The police initially arrested Satomi on December 30th, she was caught when public bath staff saw her put two small cameras in a small plastic basket.
After being caught, the police began investigating the case and discovered that her 37-year-old son was involved, he allegedly conspired with his mother to take the photos and he was arrested on January 4th. The two were arrested again at the end of the same month.
The police discovered that the two had been taking pictures and making illegal recordings of each other since August last year, having done so on 20 occasions.
Satomi admitted to the crime and said that she was pressured by her son to make the recordings. Akinori denied colluding with his mother in all cases, when asked about his motives for making the recordings, he did not hide his motives from the police.
He said this: “When I learned that the photos could be sold over the internet, I thought I’d try to sell them.” According to the police however, the photos were not sold.
It is worth noting that Akinori is a Hikikomori who has lived for 20 years and rarely leaves his home.
