Rare Kara no Kyoukai Doujin Sold for Over 32k USD

Rare Kara no Kyoukai Doujin Sold for Over 32k USD

A true “holy relic” for anime and manga fans recently appeared at an auction in Japan, leaving collectors astonished—a rare doujin of Kara no Kyoukai. This is the original edition of Kara no Kyoukai.

The original version is considered a “doujin” because it was produced by TYPE-MOON back when the studio was still a doujin group in 1998!

Written by Kinoko Nasu and illustrated by Takashi Takeuchi, Kara no Kyoukai was TYPE-MOON’s first major success, paving the way for iconic series like Tsukihime and Fate/stay Night.

Additionally, this specific copy includes an interesting detail: Kinoko Nasu’s name appears with a typo, written as “Konoko Nasu.”

Far from being a problem, this error makes the item even more valuable for collectors. According to the Doujinshi Research Institute, only 10 copies were printed, of which only 6 were sold.

Just 10 copies of this doujin exist, so imagine how valuable it is! One of these rare copies recently made a surprise appearance on Yahoo Auctions, and the final bid—the winning one—was an astounding 5,001,000 yen, which translates to over 32,000 USD! That’s an incredible amount of money for this relic!

You can check out the archived page marking this historic moment here, as I imagine the original link on Yahoo Auctions might go offline now that the auction has ended.
