Idol Momoka Tojo Completes 1-Year Punishment After Boyfriend Scandal

Idol Momoka Tojo Completes 1-Year Punishment After Boyfriend Scandal

Former KATACOTO*BANK member Momoka Tojo has officially ended her one-year punishment after a relationship scandal that shocked her fans back in 2024. The idol became the center of attention after she accidentally shared a photo with her boyfriend on Twitter—something strictly frowned upon in the idol industry.

In July 2024, Tojo mistakenly posted a picture of herself spending time with a man. Although she quickly deleted it, the damage was done. Fans saved and circulated the image, and management was forced to investigate. It was confirmed that the man was her boyfriend—a regular civilian.

Following discussions with the management team, Tojo received a two-part punishment:

  1. She had to cut ties with the boyfriend

  2. She was required to post a solo “good night” selfie every single night for an entire year

And so, the “penance” began.

Each night, Momoka posted a photo of herself—always alone, usually against a plain background—wishing her followers a simple “good night.” This routine became a strange but compelling part of her social media presence.

Despite being officially removed from KATACOTO*BANK in May 2025, Momoka voluntarily continued the nightly ritual. Her final “good night” post was published on July 27, 2025, exactly one year after the scandal.

To mark the end of this chapter, she shared a handwritten letter:

“I would be grateful if you could read this.
I sincerely apologize to the fans who always supported me, and to everyone involved, for the trouble I caused due to my careless actions.
Over this past year, I’ve reflected deeply on my behavior and faced myself with honesty.
From now on, I will act with greater responsibility so that this never happens again.”

Support from Fans

While many idols face harsh backlash in similar situations, the reaction to Momoka’s final post was surprisingly positive. Fans wrote comments like:

  • “If it’s her, it’s okay to have a boyfriend! I want her to be happy.”
  • “It’s been a whole year, hasn’t it? You don’t need to apologize anymore—just keep smiling!”
  • “You worked so hard. I hope you find happiness in your next chapter.”

Some fans joked that the nightly selfies had become “creepy,” but there’s no denying her commitment.

Now that Momoka Tojo has completed her 1-year punishment, the question remains—what will she do with her newfound freedom?
