The upcoming licensed fighting game, Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact, developed by Bushiroad and Eighting, has been banned in Australia after the Australian Classification Board refused to provide an age rating. Without a classification, the game cannot be released in the country.

In an official response to an inquiry, the board stated that the ban stems from depictions in the game that suggest “sexual violence against characters under the age of 18 by an adult male character.” They further clarified that these depictions lack any narrative context that might justify their inclusion, which contributed significantly to the decision.

Fans of the franchise are likely to associate this controversy with Hisoka, a character notorious for his provocative behavior and inappropriate sentiments towards the 12-year-old protagonists Gon and Killua.

However, it has not been confirmed whether Hisoka or any specific scenes involving him are directly responsible for the ban. Details on how this content appears in the game remain unclear.

For the game to be released in Australia, Bushiroad will need to either modify the game’s content or provide additional explanations to the Australian Classification Board for a reassessment.
