This information was revealed at the beginning of last month. According to MAPPA studio’s CEO, Ohtsuka, the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen will have additional original scenes beyond those in the manga. He mentioned that both he and Gege contributed to the second season of the anime.
Regarding Gege’s involvement in Jujutsu Kaisen 2, Ohtsuka stated that the original manga author writes for the anime, examines the scenes, reviews the scripts, and the storyboards. In other words, the original author is heavily involved in the production.
So, when fans make comparisons like these to complain about how the anime has worsened or altered “iconic scenes,” rest assured that it was done with the full authorization and approval of the original manga author! Additionally, the CEO of MAPPA mentioned that the anime production team and the manga team communicate regularly.
