The legendary creator of the Gundam franchise made a subtle appearance around the 14-minute mark, in a scene showing a personal safe filled with stacks of cash. The twist? The face printed on the bills appears to be a younger, bearded version of Tomino.

Although it initially seemed like a typical money shot, observant fans recognized the face as none other than Mobile Suit Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino. According to the Tominosuki blog, the image on the bill originates from a 1978 photograph published in the Tetsuwan Atom Roman Album 7 book.

The Nihon no Furuhonya website also features images from that same book, including an interview with Tomino and a photo taken during an Astro Boy seminar. That exact photo matches the look used for the currency bills in Gundam GQuuuuuuX—long hair, beard, and youthful features. You can see the scene more clearly in the vídeo below:

As of now, Yoshiyuki Tomino has not made any official comment on his stealth appearance in Gundam GQuuuuuuX. Still, fans view this hidden cameo as a fun and respectful tribute to the iconic creator.
