Dengeki Bunko’s Teaser Wasn’t for Black Bullet—It’s a New Time Travel Light Novel
Two days ago, Dengeki Bunko posted a cryptic teaser on X (formerly Twitter) that read: “April 2014, the story begins a second time.” The cryptic nature of the post immediately set off speculation among fans, especially those hoping for the return of Black Bullet, a light novel series that has been on hiatus since — you guessed it — April 2014.
The dates aligned too perfectly, leading many to believe that Black Bullet was finally making a comeback. But… that wasn’t the case.
Instead, Dengeki Bunko was teasing a brand-new time travel light novel that happens to begin in the same month and year that Black Bullet went on hiatus.
Here’s the visual that started the speculation:
The actual announcement is for a brand-new series titled:
“Akuyaku Move de Seishun Restart! Higeki no Heroine wo Kane to Kenryoku de Sukuidasu”
(Rebooting My Youth as a Villain! Saving the Tragic Heroine with Money and Power)
The novel is scheduled to launch in August 2025.
The story follows a man who, in his previous life, gained wealth and influence but used it selfishly. He ended up rejecting the one person who truly stood by him—and died a villain. After mysteriously time-leaping back to April 2014 as a high school student, he decides to redo everything. Even if it means being seen as a villain once more, this time he’s determined to make her happy.
Sorry, No Black Bullet Revival
So, to all the hopeful fans: no, this isn’t the return of Black Bullet. It was just an incredibly well-timed marketing campaign for an entirely new title. Still, if you’re into romantic drama, time travel, and redemption arcs, this upcoming novel might be worth keeping an eye on.
