A Maldição do Prêmio de melhor mãe do Japão

The Curse of Best Mother Award of Japan! The Best Mother of Japan award is given to female celebrities every year to celebrate them as maternal role models. These awards are announced every May, near Mother’s Day.

The winners are chosen by public votes collected through surveys and events. And what if I tell you that there is a “curse” associated with this award? Many of the participants in the “best mothers” category end up involved in cases of infidelity, scandals, and complicated divorces.

The winner of the 2021 award was Mariko Shinoda, who was later accused of betraying her husband, allegedly attempted suicide, and ended up divorcing earlier this year.

Michiko Kichise, the best mother of 2019, divorced her husband, apparently because of his snoring. And the 2017 winner was Maki Goto, who was also involved in infidelity.

Divorce has affected the marriages of other winners such as Anna Tsuchiya (2012), Kyoko Hasegawa (2013), and Yuko Ogura (2014). The tweet below shows what happened to several of the “best mother” winners:
