Colopl embraces artificial intelligence as majority of staff adopt AI tools
Japanese game developer Colopl embraces artificial intelligence in a big way, with 80% of its full-time staff now using AI tools in their everyday tasks. Known for titles such as White Cat Project, Tsukuyomi: The Divine Hunter, and Isekai ∞ Isekai, the company recently conducted an internal survey that revealed how AI adoption has surged among its teams.

Out of 357 respondents, the study showed a noticeable increase in AI usage compared to the previous year. Interestingly, employees working in marketing and managerial roles were slightly more likely to adopt AI than those in technical or creative departments like engineering and design.
Among the 20% who don’t use artificial intelligence, most cited either a lack of necessity or concerns over legal and ethical implications. Meanwhile, those who do rely on AI reported using it primarily for brainstorming, content writing, and code assistance.
The benefits are tangible—40% of users stated they were able to cut their working hours by at least 40%, and 20% said they reduced their time spent on tasks by over 60%, thanks to AI support.
Colopl incorporates AI in both creative and internal operations
In recent years, Colopl has actively integrated AI technology into its workflows, from internal systems to game development. The company partnered with image generation platform Stable Diffusion and began using AI-generated visuals in some of its titles.
However, this move hasn’t been without controversy. Tsukuyomi: The Divine Hunter drew criticism when players noticed that some of the AI-generated illustrations resembled existing copyrighted characters, raising questions about originality and intellectual property rights.
Despite the backlash, Colopl remains committed to expanding its use of artificial intelligence. The company has announced plans to implement ChatGPT’s API into its internal portal, signaling a long-term strategy to automate tasks and enhance productivity across all departments.
