Chainsaw Man Author Wants to Focus on Writing Stories
In a recent interview with the author of Chainsaw Man, Tatsumi Fujimoto revealed that he plans to follow what Aka Akasaka did, to stop drawing and only write stories.
Chainsaw Man Author Wants to Focus on Writing Stories
During the interview, while discussing Ghilbi and Miyazaki’s works, Fujimoto mentions the author of Oshi no Ko, Aka Akasaka, who said he would stop drawing and only write stories. Fujimoto said, “It must be so cool, I want to do that too.”
Aka Akasaka is the author of Kaguya-sama, a manga he drew and created the story for by himself, but he wanted to stop drawing. So, for Oshi no Ko, he only writes the story, and Mengo does the illustrations.
It seems that Fujimoto wants to follow Akasaka’s footsteps and focus solely on writing stories while having someone else draw the manga for him. When asked if he has ever thought about wanting to focus only on writing, Fujimoto replied, “Yes, that would definitely be more fun.”
Fujimoto concludes by saying that there isn’t much fun in just drawing for the sake of art, so we will probably see him in the future solely as a writer, considering he is already a popular author.
Other interesting points from the interview are that Fujimoto loves Spirited Away. He also revealed that he was able to work on Lockback in a lazy manner thanks to the success of Chainsaw Man and also pay his assistants, something that rookie mangakas cannot achieve.
Thanks Fearlock!
