Awai from Saki draws attention with her huge transformation. The manga Saki is known for portraying girls playing Mahjong in intense school tournaments, but over time, the series also became famous for another reason: the exaggerated increase in the breasts of some characters, especially Awai Oohoshi.

Author Kobayashi Ritz, responsible for the main series, began to redesign some girls with extremely striking proportions, making the manga a constant target of memes among fans.

Huge breasts in Saki are nothing new, but one of the most extreme examples is the character Awai from Saki, a member of the Mahjong club at Shiraitodai High School. For those who only watched the anime or followed the spin-off Saki – Episode of Side A, Awai was basically a girl with a straight body, almost without curves.

On the cover of volume 6 of Saki – Episode of Side A, which is illustrated by another artist (in this case, Aguri), Awai appears with a simpler and more realistic look:

But now, appearing on the cover of volume 26 of Saki’s main manga, drawn by Kobayashi Ritz, she displays enormous breasts, whereas when the series began Awai didn’t have all that.

It is worth mentioning that Awai’s big breasts did not appear now in volume 26, they “grew” several chapters ago, as the comparison between the two covers was made, this ended up going viral now.

There’s just nothing to do, it’s huge!

The difference was so extreme that some fans wondered if it was even the same character. Though the spin-off had a different artist, Awai’s original design was still clear — until now.

Fan reactions ranged from amused to confused, with comments like:

The reason behind the big breasts

In previous interviews, Kobayashi Ritz has been asked about the reason for her characters’ exaggerated breasts. The author’s answer was simple:

“Personally, I have a great desire to see the final battle drawn by Aguri-sensei. As for Awai-chan’s breasts, it’s simply my personal taste, and since it doesn’t affect the progress of the story or the development of the battles, in the Achiga arc, she is drawn with the same size as she was in the semifinals.”

In other words, the change in Awai’s body is merely aesthetic and has no relation to the plot. Still, there’s no denying that the transformation has become a true phenomenon among fans of the series.
