The singer Gackt, also known as Gakuto Oshiro, is quite famous in Japan, and at the age of 50, he was extremely surprised to discover that 40% of Japanese people in their twenties are still virgins!

It seems there must have been some recent research or study that revealed (once again) that 40% of Japanese people in their twenties are virgins. However, various surveys and studies from previous years, such as 2015 and 2019, had already disclosed this!
So, it’s not something new but rather a longstanding issue in Japan – many Japanese remain virgins! On his Twitter account, Gackt posted the following message:
“This is off-topic, but have you heard that 40% of Japanese people in their twenties are virgins? Folks, make sex! Because why are 40% of people in their twenties virgins? Teach me!”
As you can see in the screenshot above, his post garnered more than 32 million views, and many people started to share their opinions on the reasons behind this.
Digging deeper, I found a 2019 survey indicating that many Japanese reach the age of 30 as virgins! So, they go through their entire twenties without any intimate experiences!
In another tweet, Gackt made the following comment:
“Despite Japan not being at war, 30,000 people die each year. Could it be that the Japanese people lack love, given so many suicide victims? People can live if they feel love.
“No one needs me, and I’m not loved. I’m sure it will continue this way.” I feel that people die when they think this way. People can only love others to the extent that they love themselves. Let’s love ourselves first.
