Kadokawa Reveals Top 10 Profitable Anime

Every 3 months, Kadokawa releases its fiscal report revealing which anime and light novels have generated the most profit for them up to that point. It’s time to once again look at the top 10 anime that have generated the most profit for Kadokawa up to September 30, 2023.

Kadokawa’s new earnings report is in the “Year to Date” scheme, which stands for “Acumulado do Ano até a Data” in Portuguese, commonly used in financial and business contexts to refer to the period of time extending from the beginning of the current year up to the present date.

In terms of anime, Oshi no Ko was the most profitable for Kadokawa this year up to this point, and it caused a sensation when its first episode premiered. Re:Zero, on the other hand, fell to the 6th place.

Spy Classroom, which many dropped for finding it “boring,” redeemed itself in its second season and ranked 9th in Kadokawa’s list, which was quite a surprise.

  10. Kadokawa Manga Gakushu Series

Mushoku Tensei stands out as the big winner among Kadokawa’s light novels. Notice the absence of Re:Zero in the light novel category—what could be the reason for its exit from the Top 10?

Some attribute the decline of the Re:Zero light novel to two factors: firstly, the light novel is currently in its “less interesting” arcs, specifically arcs 7 and 8 (to be honest, I’m not enjoying them either). Another factor is the lack of an anime adaptation, despite the announcement of a third season, there’s no release date yet.

My Happy Marriage, which has its second season announced, made it to the Top 10 in both anime and publication rankings. Bungo Stray Dogs continues to perform strongly in both lists.
