Japan: A man was arrested for stealing 1500 Pokémon cards
People are arrested for the most varied crimes and, recently in Japan, a man was arrested for stealing 1500 Pokémon cards. Tokyo police arrested 35-year-old Okinawa resident Masaki Omori for stealing all these letters.
Omori was hired by someone to commit such a crime through a ”yami baito” or ”dark part-time job” consisting of high-risk, high-paying criminal activities.
His job was to travel to Akihabara in Tokyo where his target was a specific shop indicated by the person who hired him.

Omori flew to Ibaraki on April 11 using his own money and rented a car from there to travel to Akihabara. And it was around 5 am on April 12 that he broke a store window and took about 1,500 letters worth 1.15 million yen (US $ 8.240).
He took the Pokémon cards to a meeting at an Ibaraki park where he would hand them over to his contact. Omori was informed that he would receive payment for his crime at a later date, but when he went there, no one showed up. And with that, the man was arrested for stealing 1500 Pokémon cards!
Shall we check some comments about Omori’s crime?
”There are a lot of crimes related to Pokémon cards these days.”
”It’s amazing that people do all that for just a few cards.”
”You have to admire the longevity of Pokémon.”
”It’s much easier than robbing a bank.”
”These people probably want to resell the cards themselves, so aside from the obvious criminal problems, the market for reselling Pokémon cards really needs to be re-examined.”
The man was arrested for stealing 1500 Pokémon cards and told the police that he needed money to cover living expenses after incurring heavy losses from gambling as the reason for committing this crime.
