Sazen no Himitsu: Short Story from The Apothecary Diaries Author Reveals Loulan’s Fate
Following the broadcast of the Season 2 finale of The Apothecary Diaries on July 4, fans received a surprise update: a brand-new short story titled Sazen no Himitsu has been released online. Written by the original author, Natsu Hyūga, the bonus content went live on July 7 via the official Twitter/X account for the light novel series.
The short story Sazen no Himitsu focuses on what happened to Loulan, also known as Shisui, a mysterious character from the anime’s later episodes. It also includes the role of Sazen, the palace guard who was responsible for watching over Maomao during her underground confinement.

At 10:00 a.m., the official account posted:
“For those who’ve finished Season 2 of the anime… a new short story by Natsu Hyuuga, revealing what happened to Loulan (Shisui), is now available online: Sazen no Himitsu!”
The response was immediate—and overwhelming. The site hosting Sazen no Himitsu was quickly flooded with traffic, causing severe access issues. An apology soon followed:
“Due to high traffic, the website is currently difficult to access. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again later.”
A few hours later, the website was restored and fans were finally able to enjoy the highly anticipated short story.
