Things escalated when a Twitter account picked up the Tumblr photo and posted it to their feed, generating over 31 million views. From there, the image spread everywhere and quickly became a viral meme.

However, the real origin of the photo — including the identity of the girl — remains a mystery! In the days following the viral tweet, many people attempted to recreate the cat shadow pose.

For example, even K-POP idols joined the trend — members of the group LE SSERAFIM took part and made their own cat shadow.
