Kaleido Star Staff Wants a new Anime

Kaleido Star Staff Wants a new Anime

Even after more than 20 years, Kaleido Star still lives in the hearts of fans — and that passion may bring a new anime to life. On April 2nd, the anime’s production team released a heartfelt message following the massive reaction to a promotional video posted on April Fool’s Day. Featuring fresh illustrations of Sora and Layla, the video sparked a wave of nostalgic excitement.

  • “I don’t want this to end as an April Fool’s joke”
  • “I really want something new”

These were just some of the touching comments that flooded social media. Deeply moved, the team expressed gratitude for the strong emotions surrounding a show that first aired more than two decades ago.

Kaleido Star Staff Wants a new Anime

While Kaleido Star was never a massive commercial hit, the staff sees it as a cherished and irreplaceable project. Inspired by the fan response, they now hope to take the next steps — together with the fans.

They acknowledge that creating a new Kaleido Star anime would be difficult, with many hurdles to overcome. But if the support continues, they are ready to face the challenge.

The team listed several current goals:

  • Rebroadcasting the original anime
  • Producing new artwork for the rebroadcast
  • Recording new episodes of “Shin no Sugo Raji,” the internet radio show
  • Hosting a live reading event with the voice cast
  • Organizing a nationwide event tour
  • Creating an official Kaleido Star dōjinshi

And above all, the ultimate dream: creating a brand-new Kaleido Star anime.

As a first concrete step, the team has revived the official X (formerly Twitter) account and launched a brand-new website. The site includes information on the story, cast and staff, ongoing projects, streaming availability, merchandise, and more.

The announcement has received over 14,000 likes, nearly 9,000 reposts, and over 100 comments — not only in Japanese, but also in English and Spanish. Voice actress Akeno Watanabe, who plays Anne Heart, reposted the statement with a message of her own:

“Amazing…
Really.
So much love…✨”
