How did Osamake end? Who won?
This post contains spoilers about the ending of Osamake!
The final volume of Osamake has been released, and the question is: How did Osamake end? Who was the winner? It’s time to uncover how this light novel, which faced so many sales challenges, concluded.
To refresh everyone’s memory before diving into the ending of Osamake, we have three main heroines competing for the love of Maru Sueharu, the protagonist.
In the middle, we have Kuroha Shida (better known as “Kuro”), the first girl introduced in the series and the so-called “classic childhood friend.” She even sports the short “loser’s haircut.”
On the left, there’s Shirokusa Kachi, an acquaintance of the protagonist and, in fact, his first love. She reappears in his life and is now interested in him too.
Finally, we have Maria Momosaka, known as “Momo,” another girl who met the protagonist during childhood, where the two acted together.
But how did Osamake end? Who won?
Well… Kuro was the big winner! The childhood friend won and ended up with the protagonist, according to reliable friends who read the final volume of the light novel to find out how the story wraps up.
According to LongDongSilvir on Reddit, the ending went like this:
At the school’s confession festival, Maru planned to confess his feelings, but a trap set by Kuro and Testuhiko caused him to fall through a hole in the stage.
Meanwhile, a recording of a past confession from Maru to Kuro—where she rejected him—was played for everyone to hear, leading people to believe he was confessing to Kuro again. Kuro appeared on stage and “accepted” the confession, planning to leave before Maru returned, to force him into accepting the lie.
When Maru returned, he confronted her and revealed that he did indeed plan to confess to her, but not under those circumstances. He reprimanded her but ended up admitting his true feelings. He confessed that he loved her, and Kuro, moved, accepted with tears in her eyes. Maru explained that he didn’t choose Kuro based on who he loved the most, but rather on who he couldn’t imagine living without—and that person was Kuro.
The epilogue ends with a kiss between the two, though Kuro had to take the initiative, as Maru didn’t do it the way she wanted.
